Free Invisalign Guide Created By Our Dentist Neale Fraser
What Is Invisalign?
Invisalign is an innovative way of straightening teeth using several removable, very discreet aligners, which gradually move the teeth little by little, changing each aligner every 1-2 weeks. The ideal wear time per day is 22 hours, taking them out to eat/drink and brush your teeth.
The Invisalign aligners are custom made using a Smart Track material that fits snugly over the teeth and is trimmed to just short of the gum line.Because Invisalign aligners are removable it easier to brush and maintain your teeth compared with fixed braces.
How Does It Work?
Invisalign aligners move teeth with an appropriate placement of controlled movement on the teeth. Unlike traditional braces, Invisalign not only controls the amount of movement per aligner, but also the timing of the movement. So at each stage, only certain teeth are allowed to move, as per the Invisalign treatment plan for that particular stage. This results in an efficient force delivery system that moves teeth into the desired prescribed position.
The Consultation
At your consultation, we will complete an orthodontic assessment , discussing your case and go through the Invisalign journey , what is involved in this process and also discuss costs.
Once we have confirmed you’re eligible for treatment, he will take photos, X-rays and digital scans of your teeth. Here at the Royal Mews Dental Practice we use the Itero Element digital scanner instead of taking impressions for your Invisalign treatment.
These records, together with a personalised prescription are used to create a ClinCheck® 3D treatment plan, just for you. Once the treatment plan is approved by us and yourself, the Invisalign aligners are manufactured using digital technology and 3D printing.
The Results
You’ll visit us on average every 6-8 weeks to monitor progress and receive new aligners. Visits are more frequent at the start of treatment and sometimes towards the end of treatment. Sometimes additional aligners may be needed for final finishing movements but these are included in the quoted cost.
After finishing your treatment plan, retainers will be required to maintain your new smile. Both fixed retainers ( where feasible/appropriate ) and removable retainers such as Vivera retainers are included with the treatment.

Invisalign aligners have been designed with your comfort in mind using ‘transparent polycrystalline alumina’ – a clear, smooth material that incidentally was designed by NASA. Invisalign also has the benefit of having no metal wires or brackets, which can sometimes cause discomfort at the beginning of treatment.
You need to wear your aligners for around 20 to 22 hours a day, but you can take them out for eating, drinking, brushing and contact sports.
Our Invisalign price is one of the most cost-effective in Southend with our Invisalign treatments starting from just £1,840.
